PUBLIC SCHOOL DISTRICT SERVICE

Several Westchester local public school districts provide bus service to a student who attends school outside of the district, if the school is more than three (3), but no more than fifteen (15) miles from the student's home. Residents must contact their school districts for this service by April 1st for the following school year.


The districts that currently provide this service are:

N.B. Transportation is not provided by the cities of Mt. Vernon, New Rochelle, Rye, White Plains, and Yonkers.


CRESTWOOD VAN SERVICE (Metro North Harlem Line)

Students in the Crestwood area and those who ride the Metro North's Harlem Line can use this Iona Prep van service that is available in the morning and twice in the afternoon - at 3:00PM and again after most activities. The current cost for this service is $400.00 per school year.

There is a 7:45am ONLY pickup at the White Plains train station for students who travel south to Iona Prep

BUSES FROM THE BRONX
  • NYC "Metro Cards" are available through the Admission Office to all New York City students who ride the Bronx (MTA) buses.
  • Some county bus routes (#42, 45, 60, 61) serve the Bronx and connect with the Bee Line Special #45 at North Avenue and Huguenot Street in New Rochelle.

BEE LINE "SPECIAL #45" BUS

The Westchester County Department of Transportation provides a "Special #45" bus for Iona Prep students only. Students who come from the Bronx, who come from north or south on the Metro North's New Haven Line, or who live in New Rochelle use this service. This special bus makes one trip that starts at 7:50 AM (North Avenue and Huguenot Street) in downtown New Rochelle and comes to our front door. The return trip is at 3:00PM and returns to downtown New Rochelle. There is no late bus. If a student misses the "Special #45" he has to walk to or from the Prep to North Avenue, a distance of about 1/2 mile.
  • Reduced Fare Tokens are available to New Rochelle residents only and can be purchased at City Hall.

  • All other students who ride this bus or any other county Bee Line bus use a Passport (monthly ticket) that can be purchased at Bank of New York, County Center, or directly from the Westchester County Department of Transportation at 914 - 813 - 7777.

METRO NORTH NEW HAVEN LINE

Students who commute north or south on this line can connect with the "Special #45" bus across from the train station in downtown New Rochelle. They are entitled to a student-priced train ticket. Forms can be validated through the Iona Prep Admission Office.


COMMERCIAL VAN SERVICES

Some families from the Riverdale section of the Bronx, as well as some areas of Yonkers, Mt. Vernon, and upper Westchester County have private contracts with commercial van services. For more information and costs, please call:
